Sold as one set. This is a grab bag of loose patterns and color charts that came out of the same sewing box. Nothing here is a complete pattern in its original envelope. It's a mixed lot for a stitcher, a fabric painter, or anyone who loves mid-century craft ephemera. Everything listed below ships together for one price.

What's in the set:

  • Red-ink hot iron transfer pieces: a steam train with a coal car and passenger cars on the tracks; a cross-stitch sheet with a flower pot, a teakettle, a fruit bowl with a pineapple, a tree, a little house, flowers and running borders; a toy drum; and a bugle with a row of stars.
  • Fisherman's Crying Towel, chart #66C: a numbered color chart for the classic gag towel, with a dozing fisherman, a big fish, and labeled lures (trolling spoon, spinner, wet fly, dry fly, plug, bucktail, medium runner).
  • Hunter chart #193: a numbered color chart for a matching sportsman's towel, with hunters, a rifle, a moose call, a running deer and a duck decoy.
  • Rooster and hen chart: printed in blue, a numbered paint guide for a rooster, a hen and flowers, with its list of colors.
  • Tri-Chem chart #8917, Buttercup & Clover Tablecloth: the color guide for Tri-Chem Liquid Embroidery paints, the ball-point fabric paints sold through home-party instructors.
  • A handwritten mail-order note for pattern #3698, with the coins sent and the address of Homecraft Service in North Kansas City, Missouri. It's a small piece of how women ordered patterns from the newspaper.

Please note: the four charts (#66C, #193, the rooster and #8917) are color guides only. They show which paint or thread goes where, but they do not include the iron-on transfers they were made for.

Dimensions: 7" × 5.25" × 1/8" (folded)

Condition: Used and mixed. The red-ink transfer pieces are cut, and the cross-stitch sheet has a large section cut from the middle that is not included. The rooster chart and the hunter chart have brown spots. Folding creases and edge wear throughout.

Frame the Fisherman's Crying Towel chart for a cabin wall, stitch the train onto a child's pillowcase, or keep the lot as a scrapbook of mid-century handwork.
