Studio Redware Quilt Block Plate, Ohio Star Pattern, with Wall Hanger

A handmade terracotta plate in a glossy red-brown glaze with a dark, mottled rim, centered on a periwinkle quilt square painted with a black Ohio Star block. It brings together two great American folk traditions, redware pottery and quilting. The maker's stamp on the unglazed back is smudged and can't be read. Sold with its brass spring plate hanger, ready for the wall, a plate rack or a cupboard shelf.
