The invitation to hunt for you
The patron holds the vision; the hunter provides the boots on the ground.
Building a Manor takes time, and true history cannot be ordered from a modern catalog. Finding pieces with weight, tactility, and a Verifiable Soul requires 5:00 AM estate sales, century-old barns, and the patience to wipe away the dust of forgotten eras. The Hunt is not convenient. The finds, however, are irreplaceable.
The Archive accepts a limited number of sourcing commissions each hunting season. A Bespoke Hunt is a private arrangement between the patron and The Hunter: a specific brief, a dedicated field presence, and the exclusive right to see what emerges before it enters the public Archive.
How the Commission Works
A non-refundable $150 sourcing retainer secures a place on The Hunter's active ledger. Upon commission, a detailed brief is submitted — the object, its era, materials, dimensions, and any provenance requirements. The retainer covers the fieldwork that begins the moment the brief is received and is applied in full to the purchase price upon a successful acquisition.
The brief enters the field with The Hunter. Private estate sales, closed auctions, and architectural salvage yards across Michigan, Ohio, and the greater Great Lakes region — the commission travels into all of it. Active searches typically run four to six weeks, depending on the specificity of the brief. There is no guaranteed timeline. There is a commitment of priority.
When a piece matching the brief is pulled from the field, the commissioning patron receives private notice before the piece is cataloged, photographed, or offered to the Archive at large. The right to acquire is theirs alone, for a defined window. After that window closes, the piece moves to the Archive.
Local pickup is available from the Detroit area. Standard domestic shipping is calculated at checkout. International shipping is available to select markets. For large architectural pieces and furniture, white-glove blanket-wrap delivery is available — contact the Archive for a custom quote.

The Archive does not accept commissions for plastic, resin, machine-distressed replicas, or modern flat-pack pieces presented as antiques. A Bespoke Hunt is a commission for objects with a Verifiable Soul — heavy iron, solid wood, handmade clay, tarnished silver. Things built to outlast the people who made them.
If that is not the brief, this is not the service.
